Located between Issaquah and Redmond is the city of Sammamish. In the past 35 years, Sammamish has grown from a population of 6,000 to over 38,000 residents, yet it still has that rural look and feel. Breaking away from being Unincorporated King County, Sammamish became its own city in 1999. The city is taking shape as roads, parks and other city infrastructure are being designed and built.
Two favorite water spots are Pine Lake and Beaver Lake. Pine Lake has public swimming and fishing, and Beaver Lake has a wonderful covered outdoor picnic area and a Lodge that is available for rental.
A new "skate-park" has just been built at the Sammamish Commons on 228th. It's lighted and open 24/7.
The tree-lined streets and well-groomed neighborhoods make it an ideal community in which to raise a family. Sammamish, a "kid-safe, family-friendly community" has one of the highest percentages of children under age 18 in King County.
