Issaquah shares its valley with bald eagles, great blue herons, and spawning salmon. Issaquah Highlands, the fastest-selling new home community in the region, is in its final phase of build-out into an urban village of 3,250 homes, along with the High Street shopping neighborhood where a hotel, high-end grocery, cinema, restaurants, shops, services and office space are planned.

A trails network, under construction, will eventually connect the Highlands with the Issaquah Alps and downtown Issaquah.

Pickering Place is home to Costco's corporate headquarters. More than 2,900 of its 118,800 worldwide employees work in Issaquah managing the warehouse club's 46.4 million members and $51.9 billion operating revenue in eight countries. The corporate office moved to Issaquah in 1995.

The historic 1887 Pickering barn is the home of the Issaquah Public Market on Saturdays during spring through fall.

Issaquah has attracted other high-tech industry leaders such as Siemens Medical Systems, one of the largest suppliers of health care equipment in the world.

Rowley Properties is developing a 620,000-square-foot office/lodging business park, called Hyla Crossing. It will include Class-A office space, high tech facilities and a new hotel. Interwoven with ponds, a salmon stream and native plants. The first phase of Hyla Crossing will be the new Hilton Garden Inn Seattle/Issaquah. It features 177 guest rooms, banquet and meeting facilities, heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness room, and picturesque views of Cougar Mountain and Lake Sammamish. Hyla Crossing gets its name from the word hyla, meaning frog, because Hyla Crossing will feature a bridge designed to allow frogs to cross Tibbetts Creek. Building the bridge reflects Rowley Properties' commitment to preserving the area's native habitat.

Gilman Boulevard is the center for shops, offices, galleries and specialty boutiques, as well as a hub for favorite antique shops, medical facilities, sporting goods, clothing, and dining establishments. The boulevard takes its name from the first settlement established in the valley in the late 1800s.

Gilman Village is a quaint collection of 19th century buildings from historic Issaquah, connected with boardwalks attracts local and out-of-town shoppers to Issaquah for a variety of shopping and dining experiences.

In 1992, Boehm's Candies was named an Issaquah Treasure. The famous chocolate factory, known worldwide for its award-winning hand-dipped confections, has attracted thousands of visitors annually to Issaquah since 1956. The manicured grounds are graced with fountains, a replica of a 12th century alpine chapel, and the Swiss-style Edelweiss Chalet, which was the home of founder Julius Boehm.

Just next door, Hedges Family Estate, one of the largest family-owned wineries in Washington State, offers banquet facilities and tasting rooms boasting some of the state's finest award-winning varietals. The close proximity of these two specialty businesses, and the complementary nature of their products, has spawned the annual Chocolate, Wine and All That Jazz event held in August.

The Issaquah Salmon Days Festival, presented by the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, is the annual celebration of the returning salmon to our lakes, streams and downtown hatchery. This two day event held annually the first full weekend in October draws crowds of more than 150,000 people. Salmon Days features a weekend full of salmon and free fun, including more than 300 artists, the Foods of the World, a Grande Parade, 5k and 10k runs, four stages of live entertainment, the Field of Fun, salmon viewing, and much more.
